Der B-17-Bomber ist der weltweit erste viermotorige Bomber mit einem Ganzmetallrumpf. Es verfügt über die herkömmliche aerodynamische Anordnung des unteren Einzelflügels, einen Propellermotor mit konstanter Drehzahl, eine Bombenlast von 2 Tonnen, eine Reichweite von 2.980 Kilometern und eine Geschwindigkeit von 322.000 bis 402.000 pro Stunde. Als wichtigster strategischer Bomber des US-Militärs in den frühen Tagen des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde das erste Modell Y1B-17 im August 1937 ausgeliefert. Im August 1944 verfügte die United States Army Air Force (USAAF) über mindestens 33 B-17 Bombergruppen im Ausland stationiert. Nachfolgende Modelle B-17E, B-17F und B-17G wurden sukzessive verbessert. Davon wurden vom Modell B-17F 3.405 Flugzeuge und vom Modell B-17G 8.680 Flugzeuge produziert. Bis April 1945 wurden insgesamt 12.731 B-17-Bomber verschiedener Typen hergestellt. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg machte das Bombardierungsvolumen verschiedener Typen von B-17-Bombern 40 % der gesamten vom US-Militär abgeworfenen Bomben aus, nämlich bis zu 640.000 Tonnen.

I have multiple aircraft from this brand including this zero the b-17g me262 p51 mustang f4u corsair and hell cat and love all of them no matter what plane you get from these guys the quality is guna be great highly recommend especially the mustang as it's made of metal

I picked up this B-17 model to add some character to my office at the gym. Being an Army veteran, I have always respected the heavy legacy of the Flying Fortress. Out of the box, the die-cast metal fuselage has a dense, satisfying weight in the hand. The matte green paint feels slightly textured under the thumb, avoiding that cheap glossy look you often find on smaller scale models. I set it up on the black display stand right next to my client logbooks. A new guy came in for a personal training consultation yesterday and immediately pointed it out before we even sat down. The plane rests firmly on the base and never wobbles, even when I drop a heavy clipboard or a shaker bottle onto the desk. The tiny propellers even spin smoothly with a quick tap of a finger.
