The BAE Systems Hawk is a British single-engine jet-powered advanced trainer. It first flew in 1974 at Dunsfall, Surrey, as the Hawke Sidley Eagle, and was subsequently produced by its successors, British Aerospace and BAE Systems. It has been used for training capability and low-cost fighter jets.
Operators of the Eagle include the Royal Air Force (especially the Red Arrows Display Team) and several foreign military operators. Hawk is still produced in the UK and licensed in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), with more than 900 Hawks sold to 18 operators worldwide.
